Talking Food

This really will be the last Talking Food event.

• We will be doing one more Talking Food – same place, same time, but not just the same old thing – because we can (we have the funding).

Audio and video.

• We will learn how to record a short audio message that we can email to a friend, or upload to a website.

As we expected, it worked very well.

• Our verdict is in the Hackney Stream History section.
• The live part of the event is being replayed, unedited, 6 times each day. Visit Hackney Stream to find a time that suits you.

You can carry on talking – about food and other things – on Hackney Stream Internet radio.

• Hackney Stream will start a series of live broadcasts by reconvening the Talking Food group one last time. Talking Food was our first project to stream live to Internet radio, and one of the main inspirations for Hackney Stream. The old Talking Food crowd will be invited, of course, because they know what to expect and what to do.
• We would like you to listen – but we would like it even more if you came to join us in our makeshift studio, because every Hackney Stream broadcast is a social event. We will be talking about food – in the markets, in your kitchen, one your table – where you shop for food, how you choose it, how you cook it, and how you serve it up. Please join us.
• Date and time: Friday 4 May (2:30 to 4 pm).
• Place: Hackney Silver Surfers computer centre, 52 The Lawns, Matthias Road, N16 8QD. On the 235 bus route. Close to Newington Green.

This has been a very successful six-month project – but now it really has finished. There is still a backlog of audio to be checked and uploaded to this site. We hope to get that done soon.

While we were talking about food shopping and markets, we had the video camera mounted on a fixed tripod, and let it run unattended until near the end. We have not attempted to edit the result – except to split it into seven separate clips that are small enough for YouTube.

• You might have thought the radio broadcast last week was a bit chaotic – it was, but that is not always a bad thing. By the end, people listening would have heard the group doing what they normally do - and that is what is most important. We will do some more, probably starting about 4 pm. • We have got into the habit of recording nearly everything we do on audio and video.We are not going to stop, even though the editing backlog is huge.
